GEDCOM Library.com
The simple website for the sophisticated genealogist

Submit Your GEDCOM

Important: Make sure you select the desired settings about living persons and private facts before exporting your GEDCOM file.
Obviously, the other researcher connecting to your line (your new cousin) will need to get in touch with you somehow. Your contact information should also be in the GEDCOM file itself under 1 SUBM @S1@. However, we will also need to reach you if there is a problem, or to let you know when your GEDCOM file is approved for public access. The security screening is a manual process requiring human intervention. Keep your new password in a safe place to validate a future deletion. The maximum file size is 50 megabytes (50,000,000 bytes, 47.6 mebibytes.)

TO ADD A COPYRIGHT NOTICE: Open the GEDCOM file with TextEdit (Mac) or Notepad (PC). Find the line that says,
1 SUBM @S1@. Below that, add a line saying
1 COPR Copyright © 2017 Firstname Lastname
which of course you will edit for the current year and your name. The word copyright is sufficient without the © symbol.
Then close the file and upload it. You may want to do spot checks to make sure your privacy settings worked correctly.

Provide your contact information. At a minimum, a valid email address is required. Another researcher (a new cousin) will need this to connect with you.

If your GEDCOM file is already available on your website, you can simply email a link to WEBMASTER@GEDCOMINDEX.COM to request inclusion on GEDCOMINDEX.COM. Then you can update that file as needed.

What’s the catch? More GEDCOM material means more traffic for GEDCOMINDEX.COM and GEDCOMLIBRARY.COM. There are other websites that want your GEDCOM file, but they jealously guard it, offering morsels of data to other users. They do not allow those other users to download the GEDCOM file.
